I am an artist living and working in Edinburgh having graduated from a 5 year MA in Fine Art studying at both Edinburgh College of Art and Edinburgh University. I currently work in a school for autistic children as a learning assistant. Within my role I am able to use my self taught animation skills with the children. We have created many films, of which some have won awards at various festivals and competitions, including the Edinburgh Film Festival and Eco Schools Scotland Biodiversity-themed Expressive Arts competition.
I work mainly in 2D at the moment, focusing on drawing and etching. I have a great interest in animation and am trying to develop my skills further and make more of my own films. The main theme in my work at the moment is the exploration of imagined space – I am fascinated with old diagrams and electronic patterns, and use elements of these to construct landscapes, machines and contraptions to escape the ‘real’ world. I am also fascinated with many of the inventions being proposed as part of the environmental engineering movement, using them as inspiration for new images.
I am also working collaboratively at the moment with a group of artists and musicians. Work from a few of the projects can be seen on this blog. The work that we do is mainly with children, but the most recent project of the moment is called Rock Opera and will be created by us adults only! It’s going to be a classic!
Anyway, please enjoy my blog.
